Thank you for sharing this, I had no idea that you had written an entire book on this topic. I was happy to participate in the curious experiment that you started where one have to determine whether or not the story was written by AI or a human, some thing I am incredibly interested in finding out. As a writer, am I capable of doing that? When did you start working on this topic, and how long did it take you to complete the entire book?
A lot of the stories in the book resulted from me just messing around with ChatGPT after I first heard of it. I first got the idea for the book maybe three months ago or so; I took the best stories ChatGPT had written for me, had it (and Bing) write a few more, and then wrote 10 stories myself, and then spent the past couple weeks getting the book ready for publication.
Do you present the stories in the book in the same way as this blog? Do you have an answer key in the back telling us who wrote each story? I'm interested to read it either way.
In the book, after each story, I reveal whether it was written by me or the AI. If it's by me, I offer a little bit of background about where the idea for the story came from. If it's by AI, I share the prompt used to write the story. On some, I also share the AI's earlier "drafts," because I think it's interesting to see how the story progressed and what it took to refine the story and make it more stylized and less generic.
